SKF sour gas bearings
Extend service life from three months to three years
Compressors used in the oil and gas industry have to withstand some of the toughest conditions on earth, including extreme corrosion and severe temperature fluctuations. For a customer in Canada, SKF extended mean time between failure (MTBF) from 3,800 to 23,000 hours … and counting.
This solution for sour gas compressors includes bearing arrangements that are comprised of SKF cylindrical rolling bearings and SKF four point contact ball bearings. These bearings are made of super-tough, stainless steel rings with ceramic rolling elements and tailored PEEK cages. This SKF solution has a much longer service life than conventional solutions, due to its high fatigue and corrosion resistance. This results in a dramatic increase in availability while greatly reducing operational costs.
